Sunday, 16 February

On the second day of their brief visit to Athens, King Constantine guided his family around some of the locations he remembers most fondly.

The family left Pendelikon hotel, situated in the northern suburb of Kifissia at 11am and headed towards the Athenian centre.

On the route, King Constantine was keen to see his former school Anavrita and the house where he and his sisters were raised in Psyhico.

Their plans to visit Lycabetus and view Athens from the panorama of the Filopappou hill was unfortunately abandoned, due to the adverse streets of the Greek capital.

When the bus stopped under the Acropolis, journalists and members of the public who had followed the family around their tour, enjoyed the overwhelming view of the ancient site in the Sunday sunshine.

Despite the tight schedule and limited time available, Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal with Prince Nikolaos, took up the opportunity to buy some souvenirs for family members.

On their way to Venizelos airport, the former Greek Royal family passed by other Athenian monuments and observed the architectural transformation which has taken place in the past two decades in the Greek capital.

Personal impressions and comments from members of the former Greek Royal family, will soon be hosted on this site.
